Like so many women, Wendy juggles her career, her family and her fitness routine. She has first-hand experience with aging parents, planning for her future and paying carefull attention to her personal health. Working for nearly a decade in the Long Term Care industry, Wendy quickly learned how to relate to her clients and help them plan for their futures. Wendy soon realized her female clients were much the same as she was. And yet, they were often uneducated or misinformed about the possibilities that long term care presents to them and their families. To address the specific needs of women, Wendy began a series of workshops specifically for women to help them understand the profundity of the issues. She titled the series In The Arms of Women, and while it began locally it soon blossomed into an initiative that has taken Wendy across the country. Wendy has subsequently transformed her message into her latest initiative as National Spokeswoman for Genworth Financial, which encompasses everyone.
Financially Sound, Physically Strong is Wendy’s answer to aging. Both brains and brawn are necessary to combat the many ailments that plague us as we age. Physical and financial planning is necessary to ensure that your life is about your own choices, not apathy or burdens. By educating families about the impact of their financial and physical choices, Wendy assures her audiences that there are things we all can do to curb the stress on our bodies and our bank accounts.
Athletes have a unique way of dealing with stress: they simply focus on their goals with tunnel vision, undistracted from any strains around them. Wendy learned how to manage her stress by visualizing her goals, planning her path and taking it one step at a time. She also learned that four key elements made for superb results. Likewise, as a long term care specialist, Wendy recognizes that the best way to manage the stress that comes with long term issues is to plan ahead for them and take them step by step. In her Financially Sound, Physically Strong series, Wendy offers her audience her essential elements for fiscal and physical well being while captivating them with her own personal story.

Today approximatly 18 hours of caregiving per week is given by family and family represents 80% of caregiving in the country. With the dwindling of family (my generation did not have 7-10 children to provide their care) the families providing care in the future will be slim. We must look to paid providers of care for our future.
Over 82% of all long term care recipients are receiving care in their home and women are the largest group of recipients.
Women are the primary caregivers in the country, the primary recipients of people needing care in the country and when a decision is being made as to care for a loved one , women are the ones who make those decisions, both physical and financial.
